I recently upgraded my Point and Shoot camera from a Panasonic DMC-LX3
to an Panasonic DMC-LX5. Both cameras are fine instruments — great for walking around and taking random shots and street photography — etc.
What impresses me about the LX5 is its excellent low light – high ISO ability. Here are two photos — the night shot was taken at ISO 3200, the one with the mannequin at 6400. At 6400 the camera adjusts resolution way down to reduce noise — but in both cases the images are useful and attractive — all that I ever ask of a pocketable (large pocket) camera.
BTW both images are from the JPEG with little editing. I will process the RAW file and post that once I do. I may or may not be able to improve on the JPEG the camera produced because the camera uses its internal processor to reduce noise and it knows exactly how its images look at high ISO settings. I’ll let you know what I find once I process he RAW images.
Let me know what you think of these. I’ll be writing more about the LX5 & LX3 soon — so watch this space!
